Taking another break from this blog...

This couldn't come at a worse time, as I know I just did my first giveaway and have been gaining a few new readers, but I gotta do what I gotta do. :( There's just a lot going on right now and, unfortunately, the blog is not high on the priority list. I don't know how long the break will be, but hopefully not too long. I just to get some other things taken care of first. I may still post Twitter updates occasionally, but can't promise that, either. I hope that when I come back, everyone will still be here! :) Lol. Have fun finding bargains!!

My first GIVEAWAY winner!

I used a random number generator by Random.org to select the winner of this 3-piece hand-made jewelry set by SmartJewels!!

A wonderful woman by the name of Michelle Smart owns a hand-made jewelry line, called "SmartJewels," and she has been gracious enough to offer to give one of my readers a complete 3-piece set, including matching earrings, bracelet, and necklace!! This retails for $42.00!! I am just totally excited and so very thankful to her for doing this. You can check out her entire line of jewelry at SmartJewels.net. She is local to the Treasure Valley and is just an all-around great gal! So, even if you don't win, you should go check out her site, which is constantly being updated with stuff, and see what you can find! She has some great stuff for great prices! And, even if this set isn't particularly your style, you know it would make a GREAT gift for someone you love!

And the winner is...

Thanks for pointing that out to me! Lol. I still never managed to be able to fix it, though. Grr...any way, robin_titan, you have 48 hours to contact me and claim your prize! Just send me an email (using the "email me" link on my right sidebar) with your shipping info and I'll get it out to you!

Thanks everyone for entering! That was fun. :)

Quick & easy Halloween craft!

Here is a super-easy Halloween craft. My boys made these spider headbands today and now I can't get them to take them off!

You will need a piece of black construction paper (maybe two, depending on how thick you cut the strips. Cut them along the width of the paper (so the strips are shorter, rather than longer) and cut two slightly thicker strips (these will become the headband) and eight thinner strips for the legs.

Simply staple the ends of the two thicker strips, measure them to your child's head, then staple the other ends. My tip would be to make it so that the staples face the outside of the headband so that they don't pull hair. You could also use tape, but I find the stapler easier.

Next, simply accordian fold the eight legs.

Glue one end of each leg onto the head band, four on each side.

Add some googly eyes and a mouth if you wish and voila! Your child is now a spider! Here is my oldest putting on his "I'm innocent" face, and still wearing his Bumblebee costume that we can't get him to take off. Lol.

Thank you Oprah!!

Do you watch Oprah? Well, if you do (and even if you don't), then you will be as ecstatic as me to find out today that you can go HERE to print a coupon for 50% off ANYTHING at Payless...courtesy of Oprah! ANYTHING in the store! No "buy one get one 1/2 off"....just 50% off! This is valid TODAY AND TOMORROW ONLY! It expires Oct. 30th.

I am just so very sad that we no longer have a Payless in the Karcher Mall! They sell Payless in Shopko still don't they? Though I am not sure if that counts? It might have to be an actual Payless. Oh well...I'll be heading to the one towards Caldwell. I'm not wasting THIS coupon! Go print yours NOW!

Bear with me...

I know the site looks a little funny...I'm working on making some changes and kind of playing around with it while I figure out what I like best. So, just hang in there with me! Might take a few days to get it just right. In the mean time, everything should be working as far as links and stuff go, just might be difficult to read some of the content in the sidebars as I know it kind of runs in with the background. Again, I'm just kind of experimenting and I don't really get the chance to sit at the computer for extended periods of time, so I just have to kind of do a little bit here and a little bit there. Hopefully, when I'm done the site will look even better and will be more functional. Thanks for your patience!

THREE FREE 7x5, 40 PAGE photo books from ArtsCow!!

If you are an ArtsCow member (which you most definitely SHOULD be, because you get TONS of photo freebies) then you will LOVE this new deal they have! You can get THREE FREE 40 page (7x5) photo books! These are regularly $10.99 each! Here are the details of the product:

Our photo books are stitch bound (not glue bound), allowing you to flip pages and spread the book without having the binding crack. (Glue bound books often come apart especially in hot climates where the glue melts.)

  • 7" x 5" Hardcover with Die-cut Window (Landscape).
  • First 40 pages included.
  • Additional page $0.30/each.
  • 157gsm premium paper.
  • 100% acid free paper.
  • Double-sided printing.
  • Easy drag and drop images, themes, backgrounds, and control text placement.
  • Including lots of layouts, backgrounds and themes for you to choose.
Here's what you do:

1. Go HERE and log-in to your account (or create one if you are not registered).
2. Visit the "Credit & Discount" section under the "My Account" tab (at the top of the page in small print)
3. Enter coupon code: 40PAGEBOOK and click "Validate." The 3 free credits should now appear below in your credits info.
4. During checkout, the free credit(s) will be applied automatically!

You DO have to pay for shipping, which I am not sure what that will be, but my guess is this is STILL a great deal. You will want to order all three at once, though, so as not to have to pay three separate shipping charges.

If you are not familiar with ArtsCow.com, you should definitely check them out. These books are totally customizable with backgrounds, resizing images, borders, frames, embellishments, etc. I can't wait to get started on mine right now!

Albertson's 10/28-11/03

HERE is this week's printable shopping list. As I mentioned before, there really is not very much to get excited about this week. I wasn't even very excited about the Walgreen's list this week. Just a REALLY slow week. Oh well...I am happy to have some time "off." :) What looks good to you at Albies this week? Anything?
**Not sure what this list is all about? Check out my "Using GrocerSmarts" page, HERE. Or, if you're new to the site or new to couponing, click HERE to go to the beginning to begin learning how YOU can save 60-90% on your grocery bill.

Albertson's Preview 10/28-11/03

HERE is this week's preview shopping list. Remember that this is Utah's list and only a preview, the Idaho version may vary slightly. The real list comes out on Wednesday, so wait until then to make your lists, just in case anything changes. Doublers have been confirmed in parts of Oregon and Washington, but not yet for Idaho. Sad..:( Hopefully soon...

So, what am I excited about this week? Well...not a whole heck of a lot. Looks like the Litehouse caramel dip is still on sale for $2.50, so if there ARE doublers and you missed out on getting some $.50 caramel dip last week, then you have another shot! Just use $1/1 (SS 8/30 or 9/20)

I might do the Buy 2, get 2 on the soda. I'll pick up some Sara Lee bread...some Weber marinade...maybe some Tyson Anytizers. Boy, that's really pretty much it for me. :( Another slow week at Albies. Doublers might make things a little more interesting, but we'll see. I guess it will be another week that it's easy to come under budget! :)

**Not sure what this list is all about? Check out my "Using GrocerSmarts" page, HERE. Or, if you're new to the site or new to couponing, click HERE to go to the beginning to begin learning how YOU can save 60-90% on your grocery bill. Yeah...seriously. :)

Digital download of the new Trans-Siberian Orchestra album, "Night Castle," only $3.99!

If you enjoy the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (like my hubby does), then you might want to check this out! Amazon is offering a digital (mp3) download of their new album, "White Castle," for only $3.99 (reguarly $7.99). This album features 26 songs, plus the bonus track "Flight of Cassandra."
This offer is good today and tomorrow (10/26 & 10/27) ONLY! Then it goes back up to the regular price. So, if you're interested, go HERE to get your copy now!

A couple of coupons I missed yesterday..

Hidden in section C of the Statesman there were a few more coupons worth noting! I usually don't go leafing through the paper, but I guess maybe I should! A reader alerted me to these and I had to go fish the papers out of the recycle bin. Lol.

On page C7 there in the bottom-right corner there is a coupon for $5 off your purchase of $19.99 or more at the Craft Warehouse, as well as some great sales advertisements.

Then, on page C8, at the bottom, there are a couple of coupons worth mentioning. One is for $2 off shipping from the UPS store and it doesn't expire until 1/10/10!! The other is $10 off a purchase of $30 or more at Hallmark (Treasure Valley locations only). It DOES exclude Keepsake ornaments, which kind of saddened me, as I love buying those at Hallmark this time of year! :( Sad. I'm sure you can find plenty to use it on! This coupon expires 12/31/09.

Thanks Mandy!

KFC - FREE Grilled Chicken, TODAY ONLY!!

I'm sure you've all seen the commercials, but don't forget that TODAY ONLY (10/26) you can score a FREE piece of their Grilled Chicken. Apparently the last time they did this promo, they did not anticipate the huge response they got and, so, ran out of chicken and started issuing rain checks. This time they promise to have enough to go around! So, head on in and get your free piece of chicken! I haven't tried the grilled chicken yet, so I'm excited to give it a whirl. Though, I DO love the delicious, greasy fried chicken a whole heck of a lot...

If you want more details, you can go HERE.

Menu Planning 101

I have found that having a weekly menu plan is essential to saving up to 90% on my grocery bill each week. (Click HERE for the current menu plan) By knowing what meals I will be serving my family each week, I can eliminate making impulse purchases at the grocery store. I plan my meals around items I have in my stockpile, as well as the current week's sales. For example, if chicken is priced at a SUPER low stock-up price one week, I will stock up on it so that I can use it for 3-4 months, but I will also plan a few meals that week so that we can enjoy the chicken while it's fresh. So, for that week I might have chicken quesadillas one day for lunch, chicken alfredo for dinner one night, and chicken fingers for dinner another night. By planning my meals I also get the added benefit of never having to throw away expired food! If I have something that's close to expiration, I make sure to incorporate that into my meals that week. It took me a while to get motivated enough to do menu plans, but now that I've started and realize how much more money I am saving, I don't plan on stopping! Feel free to copy and paste this list into a Word document, then make any changes you need to tailor it to your own family, then print it! Hang it on your fridge and viola! Now you have no excuses! :) By having it on your fridge, it makes it so much easier to reference and the family likes to be able to see it, too, so they know what to look forward to. Definitely eliminates the "Mom, what's for dinner?" which is really nice. Then, when the week is done, I file the menu plan away for future reference. For example, if chicken was what was on sale this week and I prepared multiple dishes using chicken, I would file it away under...yep, you guessed it! Chicken! Lol. Then, down the road when chicken is on sale again, I can go back and pull out all of my "chicken" files for ideas. Just a quick and easy reference. :)

Also, I never plan my meals for specific days, as I feel that the restriction gets me a little stressed out. It's easier to just plan 7 of each meal (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, dessert) and whatever is easiest or most appealing on any given day is what we have! Don't forget to plan around your families schedule! If you know you have a football game to go to on Thursday night, don't plan a big fancy meal for that night. Make that the quick and easy meal night. Leave room for adjustment. Things come up, people run late, you know the drill. Being flexible allows you to not get overwhelmed. Just having these meals planned out ahead of time, though, will usually help take that stress away any way, as you're not frantically searching the kitchen trying to figure out what to throw together because everyone's "STARVING."

I hope this makes it a little easier for you to save your family even more money...

Albertson's 10/25

The above items should have cost me $87.69. I paid $21.33. I saved $66.36 or 76%. I did this in 7 transactions.

#1
3 - Litehouse caramel dip ($2.50/ea)

Used 3-$1/1 Litehouse product (SS 8/30 or 9/20) and three doublers, making my OOP $1.50
(I did this same transaction 3 more times, making my OOP $6 for 12 assorted Litehouse caramel dips.)

#5
1 - Litehouse apple cider ($2.50)
1 - Swiss Miss cocoa ($1.00)
2 - Tostitos ($1.99 ea with the in-ad coupon)
2 - Tillamook 2lb block cheese ($4.99/ea)

I used 1-$1/1 Litehouse, 2-$1/1 any cheese HERE (Idaho and Utah only), three doublers, plus a $2 OYNSO from a receipt survey from last week, making my OOP $9.46. PLUS, I actually got ANOTHER $2 OYNSO at the bottom of the receipt! They look like this...

Make sure you don't accidentally miss one and throw it away or file it away! You have 7 days from the time of your visit to complete the survey and I am not sure when they expire. There is no note of that on the receipt, but I have heard that you only have 2 weeks. Not sure if that's true or not....

#6
2 - Tillamook 2lb block cheese ($4.99/ea)
1 - Nestle Holiday refrigerated cookie dough ($2.49)

Used $1/1 Nestle (SS 10/11 or RP 9/13), 2-$1/1 any cheese (above) and three doublers, making my OOP $6.47.

#7
1 - Reese's Pieces ($1.00)
2 - Litehouse caramel dip (not pictured, as they were leaking all over the place...:( NOT a fun mess to clean up! I will have to take them back tomorrow...)

Used 2-$1/1 Litehouse, 1-$.55/1 Reese's (SS 8/23), and three doublers, making my OOP $.90 (there was a $.10 overage for the Reese's with the doublers, but the caramel dip soaked up the overage.)

My list for the week...

The Albies sale this week is totally boring to me. Lol. Anyone else feel this way? Here is what is on my GrocerySmarts list this week...how pathetic does this look?

I know you can't see it very well, but there are only 8 things on my list. Really, I am only going because there are doublers, otherwise I would probably just stay home. I, however, cannot let doublers go to waste, so off I go to the store. I am mostly after the cheese (wish I had more coupons for that), the $.50 Litehouse Caramel dip, and the $.49 Nestly Halloween cookie dough. The other stuff, I will get if I need to use up some doublers, which I shouldn't, unless they are out of stuff. The Manwich sloppy joe sauce, I only put on there because I think I MIGHT have a coupon from the All You magazine last month, but I'm not sure and I don't feel like going out to the car to bring my binder in. Yep, I'm lazy. :) Any way...I guess I'm actually quite thankful for a quiet Albies week, and this will REALLY have an impact on how I fall within my budget, too, as I'm spending hardly anything this week!

Alrighty, I'll post my trip when I get back. :)

Military personnel eat FREE at Golden Corral on Nov. 16th!

It's that time of year again. Every year for the past nine years Golden Corral has offered a FREE dinner to military personnel in celebration of the wonderful and heroic work they do for our country. This year the dinner will be on November 16th, from 5-9pm. (It can definitely get busy, so plan on being there just before 5pm if you can!) I think this is really great that they do this every year and want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of the brave men and women who are a part of the military organization. I hope everyone takes a moment to remember how truly blessed we are to have these amazing people to help keep us safe.

New Hasbro games coupons!!

Hasbro has come out with another set of $5 off coupons for a variety of games including:

"Game of Things" -- This game is absolutely a BLAST! We purchased it a couple of Christmases ago and it is just a plain ol' good time for a group of people! My family loves to play it at the holidays and it always gets everybody cracking up!
"Clue: Secrets & Spies"
"Guesstures"
"Pictureka Flipper"
"Cranium with Bonus Family Pack"
"Connect 4x4"

Go HERE to print yours! Remember, you can print these twice by hitting your browser's back button three times. Hopefully during some of the holiday sales coming up, we can pair these with a great sale to snag some great, inexpensive gifts! :)

$10 off Tinkerbell & the Lost Treasure Blu-ray combo pack!

Yep, gotta love it! Yet another great movie coupon! Go HERE to print your coupon for $10 off the Tinkerbell & the Lost Treasure blu-ray combo pack! This movie is being released this upcoming Tuesday, Oct. 27th and should be at a lower price at Walmart for the first couple days, so if it's the same as the Snow White blu-ray combo pack that came out recently, which was $19.97, it will be only $9.97 after the coupon! Maybe we'll even get lucky and find some rebate offers floating around again....hm....*scratches chin*....:)
Don't forget that you can hit your browser's back button three times to print another coupon! This would make a great, inexpensive holiday gift!! Coupon expires 10/31.

Yankee Candle -- Buy 2, Get 2 FREE!

Yankee Candle has another great coupon code available! Buy 2, get 2 FREE! These candles are pretty spendy (the large runs about $25!) so this really is an awesome deal! They have three different coupon codes for the three different sizes:

Large Candle: CRM911L

Small Candle: CRM911S
These codes are good through 11/29. Economy shipping appears to be only $5 for all four candles, so that's great too! These candles are amazing!

I'm back!

My boys made it safely to Dallas last night and now it's just me and my little girl. Ahh...it's nice to remember what quiet sounds like. Lol. My oldest son will be back with me tomorrow, he's been having fun staying with his grandpa and gets to stay with his aunt tonight.

Any way...I am going to be out and about today, taking advantage of only having one kid, but I will try to get a little caught up with posting, too. :) Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Taking a break...

Ok...I have decided to take a little break this week. I have so much stuff I need to get done, and my husband and 2 year old are leaving on a trip down to Dallas to see some of my husband's family this weekend so I need to spend all the time I can with them. (I have NEVER been away from my little one that long!) So...I am going to take the week off and I will be back this weekend. I'll try to do some crazy, mad posting at that time to make up for it, ok? :) I just have so much on my plate right now and I need to focus on other things. I may still post tweets occasionally from my Blackberry, so hopefully you're a Twitter follower and have signed up to get instant text notification of new tweets! If not, go HERE to do so! If you need help with setting up the mobile notifications, check out my previous post HERE. Have a great week! I'll be back in a few days!

Walgreens 10/18

Gotta love Walgreen's...I got all of the above for only $.47. Yep. $.47. I, also, then received $16.50 in RR's. I only went to one Walgreen's (Greenhurst and 12th) and they were still out of the razors, Halls Refresh drops, and Vaseline Sheer Infusion lotion, so was unable to get any more of those. I'll try another Walgreens tomorrow and who knows? Maybe have better luck. Has anyone else been doing local Walgreens shopping lately and had any luck?

Dominos Large 1-topping, only $5.99!!

It's "Customer Appreciation" week at Domino's, so they are offering up $5.99 large, 1-topping pizzas today through 10/25. This is for carryout only. Yes, there IS a limit of how many you can get per day...but hopefully 264 is enough? Lol. Yep, you can only get 264 per day. :) In the mood for pizza, honey? (Pizza is my hubby's FAVORITE food)

This is at participating Domino's only, so you might want to call ahead just to make sure yours is one of them, but it should include pretty much all of them, except for the rebel, non-conformist Domino's of course...;)

Thanks PYP!

In today's paper..

Sorry I'm a little late getting this up this morning...we have just had WAY too much going on this weekend, and I'm definitely ready for some downtime this week.

In this morning papers, of course I was definitely pleased to see these...

No tricks this week...they really were there. Lol.

There were two inserts this week, one Smart Source and one RedPlum

There was also a coupon for $.50/1 Hostess cupcakes in the Parade Magazine

I also noticed some grea Jo-Ann Fabrics coupons! The remodel in the Karcher Mall in Nampa is complete and so they have some great coupons to use this week as a grand reopening type thing.

Once again, we get the 40% off one item at Michael's, as well as a 20% Martha Stewart's Crafts coupon.

Go enjoy some doublers!

Friday, October 16, 2009

The new Macy's in Nampa at the Gateway Center has their soft-opening going on today! I went and checked it out and just have to say that the store is absolutely gorgeous! Looks very upscale and is just really, really nice. They have deals going on the make-up counters and I scored a free 10-day supply of Lancome foundation and two free gifts from Estee Lauder today! So, if you're in the area, check it out! Their grand opening is tomorrow, so I'm sure they'll be having a lot more great deals going on then!

Weekly Menu Plan

Man, it's been a LONG time since I posted a weekly menu plan! I apologize for that! I don't really have any good excuse, other than that I just put it off and put it off. :(

I'm sure you'll also notice that it is not titled "Tuesday Menu Planning" any more..lol. I am not going to hold myself to Tuesdays because it seems that I never posted on Tuesdays any way. :) I will still shoot for Tuesdays, but it might vary week to week, so for now I am just going to title it "Weekly Menu Plan" so that I don't feel bad if I post on a different day. Lol.
